So, my first-born, my baby is officially considered a “tween”, well … actually on Tuesday (Let the drama begin!) , but we’ve already done all the birthday stuff. She moved up to her new class at church with all the other tweens and said she loved it. Where did the time go?
K Belle,
I remember this little one that consumed my life. Every waking hour I was taking care of you or reading books about how to be a perfect mommy for you. You would cry because you wanted your mama … ME, not crying because you just met the Jonas Brothers. I know it’s hard to imagine now, but you preferred me over anyone.

You loved being outside and you were curious about everything.

At two, you still had barely any hair, but, as you can see, we made do. You loved playing with your MagnaDoodle, which is how you learned to spell your name, recognize shapes, and more, thanks to your daddy. And did I mention how much you sang? ALL THE TIME!

You melted my heart with your big blue eyes and cute, little curls.

I have to mention how creative you were and are. Here is your crawfish masterpiece that you made at a family crawfish boil. Despite the fact that these are just the heads of dead, boiled crawfish, it’s still pretty cute. But, not only did you excel in this type of art, but have always been a great little artist, singer, and now, musician.

And the smartness … girl, you are a little genius … the only kindergartener at your school to participate and earn a trophy for accelerated reading. You obviously were reared by well-read and knowledgeable parents.

You have always been a daddy’s girl. It’s OK. I don’t mind. You two just have a special relationship and I’m so glad you have this bond with him.

But, hey, who’s yo’ mama? Don’t forget about dear ol’ mom who loves you more than you can imagine.

You are a beautiful little girl …

And although you don’t care for them, I adore your abundance of freckles.

You will always be my baby, no matter how old you get.

You are growing up too fast! I don’t understand how you can keep getting older, but I’m staying the same age.
Happy Birthday! I love you.
