Here’s the deal about New Year’s resolutions related to me.
I’ve made resolutions in the past only to fail. I’m good for a couple of weeks and then am back to my old habits. Self-control and willpower are not my strong suits.
And, my resolutions are generally about the same things I deal with all year long … like thing’s are going to change just because it’s January.
The resolutions always involve weight loss (fitness and eating) and Bible study.
Let’s just face it, people … it’s a battle every day.
Every. Day.
So, actually I’ve changed my mind. (Wow, I’m persuasive.)
I will make a resolution.
I resolve to continue to fight the same battles I face every day and pray I will have more success than before.
Right now, I’m not in the greatest mood … my pants are too tight, my rosacea is having a field day on my face, my roots need to be done desperately, and I have a zit the size of Texas on my chin. I really just want to stay home, hide, and hope that I wake up in the morning with the skin of a 20-year-old and 5 pounds lighter.
So much for starting out the year with optimism.
Dang.
Oh well.
To quote one of my favorite characters, Scarlett O’Hara, “After all, tomorrow is another day.” A new day … the 1st day of 2010.
(And let’s not even get started on my year-long bucket list … failure, failure, failure … but I’m still working on it.)
"…like thing's are going to change just because it's January." Classic.
I just updated my New Year's post with a giveaway. Your comment has you entered!
Happy New Year!
I bet you still look awesome even with all of that! Miss you!!!
I love this – and totally agree. We have to battle it each day.
Right there with ya!
I am SO with you, MB. I resolve the same….to simply try and pray and be.
Wishing all the Belles and Beau a very Happy New Year!
I hear you, girl! Every. day.
I quit making resolutions a long time ago for the very same reasons!
I'm with you!
Well said!
Happy New Year to you and your family.
What is up with the zit? I have one above my lip – aren't we too old for this??
Happy New Years anyway – we love you just the way you are :}
Find your inner Scarlett girl! 2010 will be your year!
Right on, Mama Belle!
A-MEN! I feel the same way about NYResolutions. Nicely stated.
And what about making your year-long bucket list just…a plain ol' bucket list? I'm working on mine too. Or just make a clause in your year-long that you will roll over whatever doesn't get done. 🙂
Don't be so hard on yourself! Makes me feel a little comfort that others feel a lot like I do. BTW, you are still beautiful–chin zit, tight pants & rosacea!
Here's to us all trying to be the best person we can be…the way that God sees us!
Happy New Year!
