Ummm … Look what we woke up to in Southern Louisiana this morning. This is the first real snow I’ve ever seen down here. Of course, the girls, especially La Petite Belle, were beside themselves. They were already on their second outfit by 7:00 am from playing outside. You know we have no proper snow attire here. And they had a SNOW DAY at school. First time for everything. La Petite Belle praised God out loud this morning for this beautiful surprise. And you Northerners, don’t burst our bubble.

I am jealous, that’s all there is to it! We are getting tons of rain, which we desperately need, but snow would be so awesome!
We’ve been making snowmen all morning!
My neighbor and I were cracking up laughing at how pitifully dressed are children are. They’re all mismatched with different things thrown on for layer warmth. As for gloves? No one has any. My neighbor’s little boy wore the Superman gloves that came with his Halloween costume (at least they were waterproof) and I put a pair of socks with monkeys on them on Princess’s hands. 🙂
Well, looky that! I am SO happy for y’all! I’ve been saying the snow is great! I do have to laugh though, y’all got a snow day for that? I do understand it, it’s foreign for y’all, the first few snowfalls up here and people FORGET how the drive…it’s SNOW people, we get it every year for 5 months!
Again let me say, I wish the timing would have been better for you, you know like snow falling on Christmas Eve, that would have been magical huh? But It is SO cool to hear of your snow! and see the pictures…I told Rachel to go out and make a snow angel so I can see that!
I am sorry but I did have to laugh. It is always funny to me how you southerners close EVERYTHING for the lightest dusting of snow. We are about 19 degrees this morning with 1-3 inches of old snow on the ground.
Does school get canceled there for weather reasons? We normaly get 4-8snow days a year!
Hope you enjoy your snow while it lasts!
That is what we call “a dusting” up here in Minnesnowta! 🙂
So funny to see people react to this! Glad they could have a winter wonderland!
OMG! I am so glad that I am not the only one who put snow picture on their blog. My boys has such a blast playing it. I was out in it too. If I was to travel up north they could so totally spot me as a tourist. Have a great day and stay warm!!!
You had a snow day before we did!!! Snow days can be fun and I love to bake on snow days, there is just something about it!
Congratulations on your snow! ENJOY

Beautiful! Now send some to Georgia…it’s sixty degrees here! LOL
How exciting! Sorry to see that it’s melting already but glad you were able to enjoy it while it was there!
Love love love it!!
I know what you mean about “snow attire.” My kids were playing in their Crocs. Good Grief!
And tell your little one, I agree…Praise God for this sweet surprise!
A Snow Day for that? Lucky ducks!!!
Is that snow on a palm tree? Whoa.
No bubble bursting from this gal. I’m hoping the front stays together long enough for my kids to see the white stuff here in ‘Bama!
I love a snow day in the South!
My young CF friend, Anthony, lives in FL. He was flown to Houston with pneumonia, but he’s about ready to go back home. He was so excited to see his first snow in Houston today and went outside, wrapped in a blanket, to throw snowballs with his mom. Glad you all got to enjoy your first snow!
Awww! How fun! I can just imagine how awesome that must be for your girls. 🙂
That is too funny. When we lived in LA, it snowed one time. It didn’t amount to much but they canceled all of our classes. It was awesome. My husband is from Iowa so he thinks it is hilarious the way we get so excited over snow. But hey, when you only get it once every 2 or 3 years, you do get excited.
YAY! It’s so fun when something crazy like that happens!
It snowed here in Dallas too!! I was not prepared because I had rushed here from Florida with only shorts sleeves….I’ve been raiding my aunts closets!!!
Holy cow, you got snow before we did this year! We’ve got perma-frost on our driveway but no snow… I’m going to choose to NOT show my kids those pictures. Jealousy isn’t a pretty thing. Have fun!
Seriously?! You got a snow day? My kids would be so jealous! Where I live, they don’t cancel school. Unless its blizzarding. Even then they aren’t allowed to technically close down. We’re crazy like that here!
My friend in Slidell had to call me and tell me about the snow this morning. It snowed the Christmas before Katrina too. I hope it’s not a sign.
It is pretty though.
Blessings
I’m waiting on ours here in Oregon. Maybe this weekend. Yay for you guys!!
So happy for you guys. It fizzle out before it made it to Gulfport, although some say they saw a snow flurry or two. It was plenty cold here. Our church secretary said the Farmer’s Almanc said it would snow here today and on Christmas day, so maybe we’ll luck out next time.
Congratulations on your snow! Have fun with it!
So glad you’re enjoying your snow and snow day for the kids. We’ve had a little here in Ohio and they’re calling for more. So far not enough for a snow day.
Your kids got a snow day for that!?! Wow. Don’t tell my kids, they’ll want to move.
No way, we haven’t even gotten snow here yet! I can’t believe it! I can imagine how excited the girls were….fun.
I am very happy for you and the girls. If the sun was up I would take a picture of our snow day today. Let paint a magical picture for you…NO SNOW AT ALL and we have a “snow” day today.
I am a Yankee living in the south so I will say in their defense, mostly we get “Ice” days here. The buses can’t travel on back roads and not EVERY road can get the salt it needs.
I hope you enjoyed a beautiful day.
Jealous jealous jealous jealous…
that would be me. The jealous one here in south Alabama.
Great pics!
