Well, we made it.
La Petite Belle’s drawings pretty much sum up our road trip.
This is her drawing of Beau. Notice what he is saying, “You are separated!”
Here is the lovely picture of me. I always look so attractive on these car rides. My pigtails were not actually on the top of my head and I do have hair all over my head, not just in the pigtails.
Of course, she drew pictures of K Belle and herself as princesses (regardless of whether they acted like princesses or not).
Her eyes are not really this far apart.
Princesses don’t stick their stinky feet next to my head.
We arrived in the evening, unpacked, bathed, and went to bed.
What a delight it was to wake up to snow the next morning. It was beautiful.
We bundled up and headed out to one of our favorite spots to eat, The Pancake Pantry.
I broke out of my normal routine of ordering plain pancakes (because I’m a pancake purist) and ordered the Wildberry Crepes. I think these were the most delicious crepes/pancakes I’ve ever eaten. They were so rich that I could only eat about half and brought the rest back to the room.
Beau ordered a similar crepe called, Cherry Delight. He was very delighted after eating them.
La Petite Belle ordered her standard M & M Pancakes. And K Belle wanted eggs with plain pancakes.
After that delicious breakfast, we headed over to Wonderworks. If you look closely, you’ll see my family hanging upside-down in front of the building.
It was a blast.
We did some rock climbing. I found out why I don’t rock climb. First, it’s painful and hard. And second …
… Beau will take butt shots of me.
We all laid on a bed of nails. Don’t believe me?
Look closely.
Then, we were hungry again.
We ate at a new restaurant, The Flying Horse, based upon a carousel theme. There was a carousel you could ride on in the restaurant. Everything was delicious.
This was my dinner … Maui Chicken Salad (the best chicken salad I’ve ever tasted … for real).
It was at this point I realized that I am the only one in the family that cannot raise one eyebrow.
It was at this point I realized that I am the only one in the family that cannot raise one eyebrow.
La Petite Belle was demonstrating her technique to me and trying to show me how to do it.
I tried. Obviously, it’s not happening.
K Belle also has the skill.
But, Beau is the master.
what a wonderful weekend!!!
And the food…..yummmmm!!!
I am also the only one in my family that can’t raise an eye brow!! and my hubby is the master here. In fact, I think my hubby can do it better than your hubby!!!…….hmmmm….should we have an “eye brow off”?!!!
🙂
What a great account! I loved reading this and seeing your pictures. You’ve woven your experiences with your sense of humor perfectly!
You guys had a ball! Minus the stinky feet of course. That breakfast looks delish!!!!
Can’t raise the eyebrow – I thought everyone could do that. Beau is the pro for sure:}
Sounds like so much fun!!
You guys always find the best food! 🙂
I can’t raise one eyebrow either…if it’s any consolation at all… probably not. 🙂
We go to Gatlinburg every fall and I’ve never even heard of WonderWorks!
We’ll have to go this year. Hilarious!
Glad you are having a lovely time in TN!
Looks like you all had a GREAT time. The Smokey Mountains is on my “to visit” list. And those crepes? I wish I could lick my screen to taste them!
Sara,
That sounds like a very interesting challenge. My hubby says he will record himself raising the eyebrow and challenges your husband to do the same. I think a vote would be in order at that point. I’ll be in touch.:)
In some places, that look is called the Hairy Eyeball. Your breakfast looks scrumptious! I’m glad you all (ya’ll) had fun.
Oh ya, it’s a good thing you don’t have a big bootie!!!

We have been wanting to try Wonderworks.. maybe a trip is in order now. But I will not rock climb.
I cannot raise an eyebrow either but Gene and I have pouting contests..
How fun, love all the pics! It cracks me up you are a pancake purist. I am too!!!
Enjoy your time “away.” All the crazies should be gone by the time you get back!
You look like you are making some awesome memories!
And eating well!
Yowza! that chicken salad DID look good!
Looks like good fun and good food!
Love the pictures 🙂
Looks like great fun! Kaley would love the carousel themed restaurant!
Looks like fun to me.
Deb
The chicken salad has me drooling, really, big time!!
Don’t feel bad, I can’t raise one eyebrow either, or curl my tongue, frustrating at times!
I can only raise my right brow. And how in the world is anybody supposed to compete with THIS post? Bed of nails?!
Okay, I just had a HUGE, wonderful, delicious meal (date night with the Hubby), and seeing your pictures made me hungry all over again!!!
You are too funny! My husband can do that eyebrow thing too. (maybe they’re brothers) lol
I love the Pancake Pantry! Day 1 looks like an awesome time!!!
Have fun the rest of the trip.
Oh my goodness!!! I have been following your blog since I found out about it on Acadiana Moms and live a little south of you (probably). I was surprised when I saw that you were going to TN this week because my husband and I are here for our anniversary (been 1 year…. woo hoo). We are going to Wonderworks today (2/24). Our church’s youth group is also out here and they went yesterday and had a blast! Its a small world, huh??
Oh, and we will definately be trying the pancake place… looks so good!
Ok, I am gonna have to share this post with my hubby so we can be mountain people and enjoy some of that good looking food!!!
And those crepes looks delicious!
Oh my word! I don’t know if you will ever read this comment…but I wish I had known of you a month ago! I live there! My dh works at Three Bears in Pigeon Forge. Well actually they are rebuilding it. Everytime we go in to see him we drive right by Wonderworks. I’ve seen the Flying Horse, but we’ve never been. And the eyebrow thing…I’ve always wished I could do that…but at least my 8 year old son can. 🙂
