Yes Siree … It’s that time of year again!
The time where I give that delicious king cake away.
I could get very controversial in this post about the spiritual reasons as to why we don’t celebrate Mardi Gras. But, I guess I won’t.
Suffice it to say, I don’t agree with or condone the spiritual foundation on which Mardi Gras was founded. There.
As K Belle told her kindergarten teacher when she was asked why we didn’t celebrate Mardi Gras: “It’s just a chance for people to go out and sin as much as they want before they have to get holy.” Out of the mouth of babes!
That’s when we were labeled the crazy, religious family and were asked if K Belle could participate in pretty much anything from Santa to the Easter bunny. Good times.
So, the basics are: We don’t celebrate Mardi Gras, but we do eat its cake.
The king cake … Lord of cakes.
I have posted about it here if you’re interested in the history.
So, how can you win this royal cake?
Glad you asked.
Typically, I opened the contest for Northerners so that they could experience this goodness. But, good news for all you local folks, you can enter this year. I figured this might save me on shipping. Hey, I’m cheap.
So, Northerners and Southerners UNITE!
Here’s the low-down on your entries:
1. You can only enter once. UNLESS you become a new follower, then that’s 2 entries. AND, if you link back to my blog from your blog or tweet or facebook about this giveaway, then that’s 3 entries. Just let me know you did so.
2. Comments close Thursday at 10:00 p.m. A random person will be drawn and announced on Friday morning.
3. Make sure you leave 4 bits of information in your comment: A way to contact you (email would be best), where you live, what type of filling you would want (otherwise, I’ll just get cream cheese), and if you get any extra entries.
Comment away!
