I read this article tonight on Yahoo News called “Burned Alive for “Not Washing Feet.” In Beijing, a Chinese bride burned her new husband to death after he got into their bed after a drunken argument without washing his feet. What?!?! The article said the couple often fought over trivial things while still on their honeymoon. Do you think there was some clue earlier on that this woman might do something like this? I mean, come on … who in their right mind would even think of doing this, especially to a person they love? Granted alcohol played a part in this, but how drunk can a person get that this is an option? They had a fight and drank a bottle of liquor to “ease their anger.” Later that evening, the woman watched her husband get into the bed without cleaning or washing his feet. In a fit of anger and intoxication, she set fire to the sheet he was sleeping in. He did wake up and can you believe this … the two began to fight again and he passed out and died, while the woman escaped and was arrested. Do you make your husband wash his feet before he gets in the bed? I must admit I am a little OCD about my husband or children getting in the bed without bathing or showering. Dirty bodies make dirty sheets and more work for Mommy, not to mention it just grosses me out. Having said all that, I would have never used this tactic to get them to obey my rules. Do you think she was just looking for a way out … “’til death do us part”? I just don’t get it. It’s actually a very sad story and she is going to regret it for the rest of her life.

I enjoy reading your blog. I am in ID but pure bred cajun from Lafayette/Duson!
Any one capable of doing what this lady did, will probably not regret what she did, only that she got caught. It’s sad and scary that people can be capable of this kind of act.
