You’re not going to believe this. Really, you won’t.

The year is 2008 … exactly 19 years ago, I was in my senior year of high school.
Tonight is my little high school’s homecoming football game.
They’ve invited the graduating class of 1989 (in May it will be 20 years that I have graduated high school) to go on the football field before the game.
Here’s the deal … there were seven (Don’t laugh. We had a lot more in the freshman through junior classes that year.) in my graduating class, none of whom I have kept in touch with. What if no one goes and I’m the only one standing on the field in front of stands full of people?
The class of 1999 will also be there. They probably had more like 100 or so in their class, so if 50 % don’t show up, you’ve still got quite a few to stand with you. If 50% don’t show up from my class, that’s 3.5 people on the field. Awkward.
Here’s the next deal … I don’t even really feel like going. I don’t even care. Is something wrong with me? Why don’t I care? Hmmm …
All this led me to pull out the old yearbook last night.
Me almost 20 years ago …ย
(I really need to get a scanner. Sorry about the cruddy pictures. You get the idea.)

The huge class of 1989. I’m the one with the ton of make-up on my face.
Is it bad that I would rather stay home with my family and watch a movie and snuggle on the couch rather than go to this? That would be way less stressful and I can do that in torn-up shorts with bleach spots and an old t-shirt that I got from the one time I ran in the American Heart Association 5K. I guess I’m really just lazy and don’t feel like getting all dolled up for one girl in the previous picture that may or may not be there.

FYI: ย Favorite line from tonight’s episode of “The Office” from Meredith in the ethics meeting: “Have you ever had good sirloin steak?”
