I cannot even begin to tell you how over school I am. And, I’m not the one attending. I’m simply toting around, observing, helping, and intervening.
I. Am. Done.
This entire school year has been a struggle for all of us, mostly my sweet, La Petite Belle. I need all of you to send up some prayers that this girl can punch common core math and just plain old 7th grade math in the face by the end of the school year and ace the remaining work she’s got to do. This poor child …
and to make matters worse …
her daddy and I are not as much help as we thought we could be.
Imagine the disgrace! Me … an educator. Beau … a math whiz.
Even our combined forces were no match for 7th grade math.
It’s truly a disappointment.
Not only can I not help her because I am mathematically challenged, but I have zero desire to even attempt the problems. Seriously. The problems make me feel like an idiot. Like any of us need help in that area … duh.
And, honestly, you and I both know they’ll all just end up using calculators to do even simple adding and subtracting in real life. At least I still do. You know … for safety. At least I don’t still use my fingers … most of the time.
The math struggle combined with new school, new friends, new teachers made it multiplied times a thousand, which I’m not sure what that equals without my calculator, but you get the idea.
I’m done with checking teachers’ websites and grades. I have heart palpitations just thinking about pulling up the sites right now. So, I’m not going to.
I’m MOST tired of checking homework. Scratch that. I’m MOST tired of simply asking about homework.
I just want to come home to no agenda and no work. Only happiness and smiles!
With May, comes the end-of-the-year events.
We had two programs last week, K Belle’s spring concert and La Petite Belle’s theatre program. K Belle also went to her junior prom. It was a busy week.
Despite a hacking cough and fever, she managed to pull herself together to make it to said prom.
She better have. Seeing as I spent an absurd amount of money on her dress. I’m too ashamed to tell you how much it was. Appalling.
However, it really was the ONLY dress for her, despite my efforts to coerce her to get the ones off the clearance rack. It was beautiful and she really did look fabulous in it!
She made a deal with me … only the dress. Nothing else would we have to buy because of the price. So, no nails done. No hair done. No shoes. No jewelry.
She borrowed shoes and jewelry and did her own hair and makeup.
Thanks to dear old mom she actually got her nasty, chipped nail polish off just in time to get out the door with one fresh coat quickly painted on. She, of course, piddled most of the day, playing guitar … lying on the couch … watching episodes of Frasier … you know, typical stuff.
It’s funny how low maintenance this girl is. I guess it’s a good thing. La Petite Belle would have wanted the full spread of services and supplies. K Belle … eh. She really just doesn’t care.
Here she is with her date.
With her daddy before she left.
And, with the whole crew.
Good times were had by all. She was actually home by 11:00 p.m. with the others, yakking it up downstairs with Beau. What a good girl!
