I had a great day yesterday. Mondays are actually my “day off,” which means I do all the laundry for the week, clean the house, cook a good dinner, and try to run all my errands and grocery shop … not to mention pick up the kids at school, work on homework, and then, run them around town to different events that they need to be at.
That’s how my “day off” usually turns out.
But, today, was different.
Beau drove the children to school, while I stayed home, relaxed with a cup of coffee and read a few blogs. I got dressed, make-up and all. Then, Beau and I headed off to our video shoot.
Yep … we shot two commercials for a local furniture store.
I know. A furniture store?
It wasn’t your typical lame announcer-type guy yelling about sales, but a funny commercial involving an even funnier married couple, played by yours truly. We got paid for this, mind you. Good acting doesn’t come for free … a full $100 for the both of us. That’s $50 a piece. We don’t come cheap.
If I had to choose someone as my actress double … who could play me in a furniture commercial … my understudy … the one actress who I often get mistaken for (about 15 years ago, when 90210 was popular) … Gabrielle Carteris.Â

And, Beau’s understudy … well, the one actor that everyone says he looks (and actually acts) like is John Belushi. Since he’s no longer around …

So, imagine Gabrielle and Kevin in this commercial and you get the idea.
Anyway, Beau and I worked up quite a hunger with all that acting, and ate at a local Greek restaurant for lunch. I was having a craving for grape leaves. Delicious.
All that eating made me sleepy, so we came home for a nap. Did you hear that? We took a nap for about an hour.
Beau went to pick up the kiddos from school, while I did a little laundry. The family’s gotta have some clean clothes for the week.
And, I actually ran tonight … two miles, not the three I had been. But, that’s what happens when you haven’t run in over a week. Hey, but it’s something.
I made a smoothie and had it with cheese and crackers for dinner. Then, watched a little TV.
It was a real day off … no need for quotes today.
If you haven’t already, grab that “Dare to Wear” button on my sidebar and talk it up over at your blog. It will be loads of fun. Still contemplating my fashion item.
Didn’t know you were actors! You passing out autographs yet? Hey, I’ve got an award for ya over on the domestic fringe. Stop by when you have a second and claim it.
See you there!
Great understudy choices…and now that I look at the pics, Gabrielle does resemble you!
Way to go on the real day off. 🙂
You are so funny! And I always thought you looked like Gabrielle from your pics.
wow, you really do look like her! What a great day off, you deserve it!
What an awesome day! Your understudies are perfect for you. At least from the little I’ve seen of you.
I had to laugh when you said you had a craving for grape leaves. To me, that’s like saying “I have a craving for carpet fibers…mmmmm”
Your day sounds wonderful! I keep thinking that I need a day off, but so far none of my children seem to agree with me. :o)
Sounds like a great day… Greek Food.. yumm. Now you have me in the mood.
Wow, now I feel like I am in the presence of greatness.
You’ll have to show us the finished product! You deserved that “day off”… now if you could just get one more without all the work in the morning, right?
I love your post – will you post a clip of the commercial? Love to see it!
I think you are Gorgeous and do look a lot like Gabrielle.
Kuddos to you for have an actual day off!
Talk to you soon stranger!
This blog was so fun! I love that you picked out understudies for your commercial. Do you think they’d do one for $50 apiece?
It sounds like a really fun day off, Mama Belle!
How FUN! And getting paid! WOo hoo. When you make it to the top will you please keep in mind I’ve always wanted to be the voice of a cartoon charater?
Even the “job” of acting for a commercial sounds more like a day at an amusement park rather than your normal “day off.”
I myself am deeply jealous. Sounds like a fanTASTIC day! 🙂
Just found you from the FringeGirl’s blog. Love your stuff! The Obama thing and your daughter and the reference to God is priceless. Thanks for a great perspective. ~Mindy
“We don’t come cheap…” ha! So, you’re gonna post the video of this commercial for us when it comes out, right?
I have never had grape leaves, and actually I don’t even know what they are….?? Hmmm. If you say they’re goodk I’ll take your word for it.
Can I have your autograph???
Did somebody say Greek food?!
I would love to see the commercials. Did you wear leggings is what I want to know???
for the record… The Kung Fu Panda reminds me of your husband everytime I watch it.. It is the face that he makes……LOL
I loved Andrea. 🙂 But not as much as I loved Dylan.
