First off … yesterday’s lame post was supposed to be in the shape of a Christmas tree. Well, it was in my preview window, but when I published it, the words all went to the left side, instead of centered. Stupid Blogger!
Straight Shooter, a girl that really loves to shoot straight, tagged me for this meme. It is a little lengthy. You may scroll quickly if you’re busy, or read in detail and prepare to be amazed by my answers.
The Holiday Version Meme
Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Egg nog, of course. I’ve already posted about my love for egg nog. And I realize that you either loathe it or love it. I think it’s delicious.
Does Santa wrap presents or set them under the tree?
Santa wraps presents?
Colored lights on tree or white?
White
When do you put your decorations up?
If I do no shopping on Black Friday, we decorate. We definitely get everything up the weekend after Thanksgiving.
What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
That’s hard if I’m having to exclude dessert. I guess, sweet potato casserole. Yes, I know, that’s kind of like a dessert. Just let me have my favorite.
Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
Really thinking I heard Santa’s sleigh when I was in bed one night (although it did kind of freak me out … you know the whole stranger coming into the house and standing over me to see if I’m asleep) and going to Grandma’s house.
When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I think I was a teenager, maybe 12. Pretty pitiful, I know.
Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Yes, all of them, except for the ones we get from Beau’s family the next day.
How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
I put the pretty, breakable ornaments where I want them and put ornaments at the top. Then, I move the ornaments the girls put on (usually about six ornaments clustered together on one branch) after they’ve left the room. Beau decorates outside and only puts the angel on the top (yes, the broken-winged one … just sang, “take these broken wings and learn to fly again …” … remember Mister Mister?)
Snow… Love it or Dread it?
Love it! Wish we had it every year instead of once in thirty-something years, like last week.
Can you ice skate?
Nope, not at all. And really don’t care to learn.
Do you remember your favorite gift?
As a kid, I remember getting a bunch of great albums, which I sang to continuously … “The King and I,” “Zanadu,” Billy Joel, “The Sound of Music,” “Thriller,” “Grease.” As you can see, I loved musicals.
Beau stuffed my stocking really good last year with everything I wanted and more. He spent way too much money, but I loved it.
What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Remembering what God did for me and spending some relaxing time with my family
What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Any pie that my mom makes. Actually, any dessert that my mom makes. I do love that coconut cake and all the chocolate covered things. I could go on and on.
What is your favorite tradition?
Doing Christmas Eve at our house, Mom and Dad coming over, soup, chili or gumbo for dinner, baking cookies for Santa with girls, and of course, seeing the girls open their presents
Which do you prefer, Giving or Receiving?
I like both, but I really like when I get someone a gift that they really like or wanted.
What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Can’t pick just one.
Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Yuck! It’s just a peppermint in the shape of a cane. Not worth eating unless you need a breath mint.
Ever recycled a Christmas present?
Yep, think so.
