There’s another controversy involving Miley Cyrus. The details are here if you haven’t heard about them yet. (Warning: There are pictures. You can’t see any flesh you shouldn’t normally see … it’s just the nature of the pictures that are the issue.)
I don’t know how to feel about this. I find it very hard to believe, knowing the backgrounds of her family and the Jonas family. I know that she is not above reproach. No one is. But, I feel bad for her family and all the drama they’ve gone through lately. I’m sure all of this breaks her family’s heart.
These people that leak these pictures (if they’re not fakes) need to realize she’s somebody’s little girl. People can be so cruel.
The whole situation really makes me continue to pray for purity in the lives of my own girls. Actually, not just in them, but the lives of their friends, too, who so greatly influence them. I know you all remember what that was like when we were all teenagers. We need to continue to teach our girls about modesty, sex, positive body-image, self-esteem, and of course, purity. Not only that, but also, teach our girls about boys, and the way they think. I honestly believe that most girls are simply oblivious to the effect they have on the opposite sex and it’s up to us moms to educate them in an age-appropriate way. I miss these sweet, little innocent babies.

Purity is an issue really close to my heart. My heart feels sick sometimes at the callous and irreverent way the world views sex. I pray so hard that my boys will learn to respect women as well as themselves. Ohh, we are up against so much, but I am so glad that we have God’s strength to do this parenting thing!
Oh, Amen. I think I will be coming to you for advice in a couple of years when my Savannah gets older. I feel such a huge sense of responsibility to raise her up with all of these values you mentioned, and I just pray I don’t mess it up.
i’m the same way. i pray for purity for David before i put him down every night. We may skip the Lord’s prayer, singing, or other nighttime rituals, but i NEVER miss praying purity for him.
The world doesn’t value purity at all. It laughs at it. We need to bring purity back!
Amen! This world sometimes scares me for when my baby girl is a teen. . and even more for my boys. I see myself turning into a serious mamabear with the way some girls dress around boys! Praying now for the girls that my girl and boys will surround themselves with and for the purity of their hearts. Thanks for a great springboard for prayer this evening!

I do not feel you are on a soapbox – I think more Moms and Dads should stand up and JUST SAY NO! No my child is not watching that or dressing like that and I am going to teach my child about purity!
