Is it OK to trim your rose bushes, that were once admired by everyone in your neighborhood before you moved into the house, with an electric hedge trimmer? I’m sure you rose connoisseurs are disgusted by me right now. I’m sorry. I just can’t keep those dang things trimmed. If I didn’t do it, they were going to take over my house. Beau actually did it. I imagine it was a little like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre for them. Now, the test will be is they continue to bloom. I’ll let you know and post pictures.
Just a Question

I say, go for it 🙂
Apparently the last pastor that lived in our house, LOVED rose bushes…I, on the other hand, do not care for plants that require anything more than water 😉 I’ll take a pic of what they look like now…you’ll laugh your butt off!
It is perfectly ok.
I first “yard task” we took on after buying our house was to cut down all rose bushes. There were 4 of them in the front flower beds and 4 in the back. We thought they looked ridiculous!
Problem… we bought our house from our friends. The first time they came over after we had moved in the husband immediately said (with the most pitiful tone of voice), “You got rid of the roses?? I planted those for Melanie for her birthday one year.”
Oops!
I say – It is your house, do what you will, except maybe paint the house pink! The neighbors will just need to adjust!
I’m so not a rose person either, I have no idea how to properly care for them. I just whack em all the way down once a year.
give me some miracle grow and I’m sure they will be just fine!?????
i have a black thumb, so i’ve got no ideas for ya. If that rose is one that grows in your yard, it’s so pretty! i love roses. i can’t wait to live in a house with a yard i can plant in.
