Every year at this time, my blog becomes overly popular.
I know what you’re thinking … It’s gotta be because of my fabulous and insightful writing, right?
Negative.
It’s because I give away a king cake.

You give away a cake and people come out in droves.

I’m not going to post about what a king cake is or my views on Mardi Gras and all that jazz … nope … you can google that stuff so I won’t bore you with it. I even have past posts about them you can read, but I know you just want me to get down to the nitty-gritty.
You see …
There are two types of king cakes, in my opinion:
1. Doughnut king cake
2. Pastry-type king cake
I know, I know … they sound similar, but not at all.
One is basically a ginormous filled-doughnut, which obviously you can’t go wrong with. The other is a drier cake, almost like a danish with more filling.
I prefer the doughnut-type for obvious reasons (it’s a doughnut … duh) and that’s why my favorite is Meche’s king cake from right here in Lafayette. There are those other people that prefer the dry cake, which you can also get at other local bakeries.

You may see my disdain for dry cake here, but I promise you I will not hesitate to have a piece of either.

I mean … cake is cake, right? All good.
Makes me think of this … watch it, you won’t be sorry.

Conclusion: Cake. Is. Good.

I have always mailed out Meche’s king cakes, but this time I will give you the choice.
