K Belle wrote a poem … a poem that was sent to a writing competition.
She advanced to the next level.
She took 1st place at the Superior level.
Of course, I’m beyond proud.
She has informed me that I tell her I’m proud of her way too much. I told her I will continue doing so despite her not wanting me to.
We have this on-going dispute of me showing pride in her and her acting like everything she does is not a big deal. It’s become comical.
The award-winning poem was to be written about someone she admired.
Of course, she chose her dad.
Not her mom. Her dad.
It’s OK. Really.
Here is her sweet poem.
My Dad
His gentle, stern face soothes my soul
As he bids me farewell for the day.
He may have scolded me the night before
But the past has scurried away.
As he wraps me in his gently arms
And he says he loves me so,
We speak of past events
And how much I have grown.
As the night creeps in and the sun goes down
And my mind begins to tire,
I say, “Good-night” and think
Of how my daddy is who I admire.
Adorable!
From one "proud" mom to another…
Keep it up!
That's beautiful, K Belle.
You know, Mama Belle, she may not have written about you this time, but think of it this way: her admiration and obvious close relationship with her daddy is what's going to keep her from searching for love elsewhere. It's a really good thing. I know you know that. 🙂
Beautifully written poem… what a special gift she has and how wonderful it must feel to see her sharing it with others. Hope to see more!!!
You have every right to be proud of her AND to shout it from the mountaintops (errr, if we had mountaintops here)! My daughter is very much the same in regards to NOT MAKING A BIG DEAL about her accomplishments. She was named "Dancer of the Month" at her dance studio and they give a yard sign and she was totally against me putting the sign up in the yard. (Yeah right. I pay way too much money NOT to put that sign up! LOL) What is it with these kids where they don't want to be made a big deal over?
precious! Of course you can't help but be proud and gush all over her!
I, too, have a daughter who thinks Daddy hung the moon. I'm half jealous and half happy about that.
You do have a right to be proud! That wasn't just sweet, it was also very mature. And how precious that she admires and respects her daddy so much. Like Chel said, that's going to keep her from looking for love elsewhere someday!
That was too sweet!! I recently had a similar thing with my own daughter. Like Holly said…it stung and tasted sweet all at the same time. 🙂 Gotta love the variety of emotions our kids give us! 🙂 Be proud…you are a great mom. Pat yourself on the back little missy! 🙂
This is beautiful. What a blessed daughters to have a Daddy whom they admire!
And also, I love how your daughter can look 10 – 16 depending on the shot.
