… except when it involves manual labor.
I do not like it.
Not at all.
I’m not afraid of it and I do it if I have to.
But, I’d just rather someone else do it besides me.
This has been the case lately since our kitchen remodel has truly began.
On Monday, the hubs had me shoveling concrete rocks and then lugging them outside. Not. Fun.
By the end of the day, I dreaded hearing Beau calling my name because I knew he would want me to do something involving heavy lifting or smelling the nasty stuff that comes from the plumbing pipes.
As a woman, I think it’s appropriate for me to be able to pick and choose when I want to be equal, right? Isn’t that the way it goes?
I’m not sure equal is what I want to be anyway.
I think we are equal in regards to our value.
But, I much rather have the covering of a man as God intended it.
A man is not more valuable, just has more responsibility.
We’re different and our differences should be celebrated.
I like to celebrate by getting pedicures and shopping.
Beau celebrates by putting a piece of furniture together and watching FOX News.
I celebrate by a nice, hot bubble bath and a night out with the girls.
Beau celebrates by a leisure walk through Home Depot and taking a nap.
None of those things are bad. Just different.
Here’s a taste of what’s been going on in the kitchen.
(That’s busted-through concrete there. Our entire island is gone with the sink & dishwasher. Actually, at this very moment, there’s is not a thing in the kitchen … no refrigerator, cabinets, stove … nothing. Just concrete.)
As La Petite Belle says, “It’s like we’re living like poor people.” All because we’re drinking out of paper cups and eating off of paper plates. This child definitely has no idea of what it means to be truly poor.
Two days of fast food with several more left to go are in our near future.
Yuck.
But, for you …
Go out and celebrate your difference today.
Tell your husband you need a pedicure … or manicure …. or massage … whatever you need to feel equal.

I totally agree with you about the whole equal thing! I thing we are equal in value but I do recognize that we have two different roles in this world and I like it like that!

We did that once and ended up eating things that could be made from the microwave in the living room for over 6 weeks, and I was 7 months pregnant with Action…..what were we thinking?!?
As for the issue of being equal….I am happy not to be equal. Give me the laundry. I hate mowing grass.
If I lived closer, I would help Beau with the kitchen!
I am the handy woman at our house. My hubs was not given that gift and my daddy used us as his helpers when we were young. I learned how to do all kinds of things!
I can hang a new ceiling fan or light fixture like nobodies business and just tell me what faucet needs to be replaced – I would be all over that. I replaced my garbage disposal about a month ago.
BUT, I still LOVE my pedicure and I get my nails done every two weeks. So, even with the dirt and yucky smells, I am still a woman through and through!
