(Thanks, Blogger. Love the flattering face image that you’ve chosen to freeze on. Thanks a lot.)
This boy that called was the same boy that asked my permission for K Belle to “hang out” with him as he was helping to run sound for a local church service. Awkward.
To which I said, “No. Sorry. She has plans.”
Beau said, “I’m a sound engineer and I don’t want her hanging around sound engineers.” Go figure.
I’m not sure if she actually likes this boy or not. She laughs about it and says he’s such a nerd, but she still “hangs out” with him. Hmmm …
This child will be 12 this month. TWELVE, little dude. Ask me again in 3, maybe 4 years.
and the trouble starts!

hmmm… his parents should be so proud.
The book He's Just Not That Into You clearly states that "Hanging out is not dating."
But in tween world,… it's pretty darn close.
OMG I am so NOT ready for that to happen but when it does……I have many man-boys who will gladly step in and take care of it! LOL my daughter is 11 and thankfully she is all of 11 and isn't interested in "boys" yet. PTL! but I'm sure its coming and I need to arm myself for the day it hits!
The little punk gets two points in my book: one for calling to ask your permission and another for having great taste in girls he likes to "hang out with".
But yeah…minus two points (and maybe ten more) for the fact that she's TWELVE.
Cute glasses, by the way 🙂
OH! Just listened to the message – hilarious!
Okay – I'm just wondering when we can hang out sometime and be friends! You're fabulous!
I've been reading your blog for a while and I'm just letting you know :-).
"lovely"…
Boys!
I am loving that you shared that with us. Cute glasses!
The message is HILARIOUS! I am so going to show that to my husband tonight. We are preparing ourselves for that first message too. Luckily, our daughter is only 7, so we have a few years. (I also got a big laugh out of your comment about where blogger froze your face – too funny) Thanks for making my day!
Amy
"I don't care" Oh really…then why'd you call, young man?!
I can barely wait until the first boy calls our house…my husband will commence Operation Lock Up the Girl at once! 🙂
Hey, the same guy voice who takes your messages takes mine. Small world! Uh, the phone call, well … now life gets interesting. And you will find a vicious side in you that you didn't know existed due to the mama bearness you're about to experience. Hang tough.
I refuse to laugh at this because I know my day is coming. So instead I will sympathize with you.
Boys, indeed. Fabulous first message. 🙂 So you're telling me I only have….um, like 8 more years until I can expect this to start happening???
We are living parallel lives! Skibbie will be 12 in 6 weeks and we've had boys calling the house for a month now. She doesn't "like" anyone (that's what she tells me and thank goodness for it) because she says she is "too busy with friends and soccer".
The time is short. Where is the shotgun?
Stick to your guns girl! And keep one by the front door too – just a little warning for the boys who think they can get by with something.
Don't be afraid to let the young man know that there is no "hanging out" until she is of age.
It is hard to do but it must be done!
Ahhh, and so it begins!! Hope you have as much fun as we do! ha ha!
