Ah, yes … the honey bun. It’s one of La Petite Belle’s favorites. I have never bought these Little Devil Debbie cakes. Now, that’s not to say that I have not bought others such as, the ever-popular oatmeal cream pie, and the strawberry cake roll thing, and the always in-season gingerbread men. But, I have not and will not buy honey buns … too sticky, messy, and gross.
No one in the family really cares for them, except for La Petite Belle, who every so often, is treated to this snack when Mama Belle has not fed her children breakfast when she’s had to be at church early. Believe me, she is not disappointed to have missed Cheerios for this sugary mess.
Today at lunch, La Petite Belle was talking about how much she liked honey buns and we didn’t.
She replied to us all by saying, “God likes honey buns and He can eat as many as He likes.”
Mama Belle: “Baby, God doesn’t eat.”
La Petite Belle: “Why?”
Beau: “Because God’s a Spirit, Baby. He doesn’t need to eat.”
Mama Belle: “Well, then, if we all will be spirits in heaven, why do we need a banquet table and will be at a feast? … since spirits don’t eat.”
Hmmmm …
K Belle began to quote some verse in Psalms about God providing His people with a feast.
Hmmmm …
What do you think? Does or will God eat? Will we eat as spirits?
Thank you for your effort in thought about this pointless topic.
I have no clue about food in heaven- I sure do hope there is-as much as I like to eat-
ADHD loves those honey buns too-
and when I was preg with him, I snacked on a honey bun and glass of OJ every night!
If I am thinking clearly this morning – and more than likely I’m not as it is a Monday morning. I am not sure we will have a need to eat. I don’t think we will be hungry in the human sense. Our hunger would be towards the worship of God. Does that mean we won’t eat? I think we might eat (and am hoping this is the case as I can’t see eternity without chocolate ;}) but our desires will be different.
That is my take. I’ll ask my hubs tonight and see what he says. For some reason he always has some deep answer for these questions.
Hugs!
I have to laugh and then say . . . I like her thinking! Can you imagine Heaven without the yumminess of chocolate? haha
I don’t think we’ll be spirits…we’ll have resurrection bodies like Christ did. We can eat if we want to. Our bodies will be what they were meant to be, not those we have on this fallen world.
OK you’ve stumped me. I’m going to have to think a while on this and do some searching.
Thanks for stopping by. My hubs is a good guy! Cody is a Daddy’s boy and has Daddy twisted around his bitty little finger!
Blessings
I’m not sure if God eats but I can’t wait to get to that feast. I think everyone will have their favorite foods. It is going to be awesome. And I like honey buns too but I try to stay away because I could become quite addicted to that kind of stuff.
‘Little Debbie Cakes’ love them and they definitely will be a part of my Mansion Pantry in heaven, along with alot of other good foods. The one thing about it, we can eat all we want there and never get fat or sassy.
Smart Kid! God may not have to eat but he may WANT to! He can do what He wants….since He is GOD :0)
I think we will eat for the sake of communion….not because we’re hungry. And I doubt we will be eating processed foods in heaven. Ask David if they will have “widdle debbies” in heaven…
We will totally eat–not because we have to, but because God is good that way.
And hot, fresh, glazed Krispy Kremes will be served at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. I have it on Good Authority.
Just sayin’.
Ha ha ha….see, the DO listen!
I am hoping for feasting in Heaven. You know South Heaven will be one feast after the next! 😉
Wow…La Petite Belle sure came up with a good one. I don’t really have anything better to add than the commenters above me, but it sure made me think.
I totally think we’ll eat. I’m with La Petite Belle 🙂
Remember the song Big House by Audio Adrenaline?…it’s where my deep theology comes from…apparently we’ll play football there too 😉
Now I’m hungry…
Okay, the sudden thought of no food in Heaven kinda freaks me out… :o)
I love how kids come up with these things. 🙂 So cute.
I was just talking to Big D the other day about this. Jesus isn't just a spirit anymore though. He's got a body. Remember when he rose from the grave & ate with his disciples? I'm not sure that he has to eat, but I know that we will because of the marriage supper of the Lamb. My opinion on it is that our bodies will be the way Adam & Eve's were before the fall. They were perfect with no flaws & no decay; the live forever kind & we know they ate because they ate the forbidden fruit. That's just my opinion though.
I absolutely think we will eat in Heaven. We will then have glorified bodies to house our spirits. But we are gonna’ have that feast as La Petite Belle says.
Think about it….don’t you think that some of the best foods He will have on that table be Cajun??? ‘Course. 😉
Truthfully, I do think we will. The food on the trees in heaven have spiritual significance, however, I do think they are physically eaten.
Honey buns, not so sure about those. But I guess if I can believe Cajun food and all manner of seafood will be present on that table, she can hope for those honey buns. 😉
