Yes. Don’t judge me. I ate 4 of Viva La Waffles’ gourmet waffles Sunday night for our special Joli Night of Worship and Waffles.
Well … half of 4, which equals 2 entire waffles.
Delish!
In my defense, I had prepared for this all day by not eating a thing so that I’d be plenty hungry and be able to use all my calories at one time. Not healthy and I’m sure Dr. Oz would reprimand me, but c’est la vie! I ate very well.
My favorite was the Roscoe … buttermilk brined fried chicken breast with a spicy honey drizzle and optional (which I did have) blue cheese buttermilk slaw in between 2 waffles. Holy Moly!
Oh. I failed to mention that, in addition to the 2 waffles, I ate some of these incredible garlic butter waffle fries. Best waffle fries I’ve ever had FOR REAL!
Coming in second for me was the Viva Las Vegas … peanut butter, berry compote, sliced bananas, and THE BEST PART – candied bacon. So yum!
All this followed a great time of worship, prayer, and fellowship at the church.
I spoke a bit on the invitation God gives us every day to sit at the table with Him and the things that hinder us from doing just that.
Psalm 23:5 pretty much says it all:
“You have prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
I like how The Message says it the best:
“You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.”

God has everything we need at the table. We just have to sit.
One of the greatest thrills for me during these events is when I see young girls worshiping next to us older girls. I love how women of all ages are forming such a great community of believers and warriors. It’s even a greater thrill when I look out on the crowd and see my own daughter as one of those young girls.
Pretty soon one more girl will be joining us … but for now … she’s just enjoying being an 11-year-old girl who ate Jimmy John’s for the first time today.  It’s the simple things.
Great, great night! With many more to come!
