This was the question posed to me tonight before La Petite Belle went to bed. She began crying right before bed, saying that she was scared. Of what? I don’t know. She asked to sleep with her sister. To which, I said the inevitable, “No, not on a school night.” We headed off to her room after our prayers and she began crying. I asked her what she was afraid of. She said, “Mommy, don’t you know there are people out there that can kill us?” Whoa! Hold the phone! Where did this come from? I explained to her that she was so safe in our home and that God was protecting us. I, once again, (previous expertise from big sister’s fears) quoted Scripture that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but love, power, and a sound mind. God says that we should fear not because He is with us. Do you believe God’s Word is true? Then, we should not fear because His promises are true and He will never leave us or forsake us, ETC., ETC., ETC. Then, I think the truth really came out.
This is one of my favorite songs about knowing the truth of who we are in Christ.
Whoa. That’s heavy. Sounds like you handled it well though. Way to go mom.
You handled that much better than I would have. Sounds like you are a great mom.
Precious. Love those moments that God allows us to speak truth to our little ones. Also, one of my fav CC songs!
Oh wow, that’s a really good answer! That’s some total Holy Spirit goodness coming out of your mouth. This is why we memorize His words.
Sometimes, when you are having such a crummy mom day, conversations like this make you think, hey, maybe I am doing SOMETHING halfway right!!
Wow. You handled that so well. Just filling her little precious heart up with truth!!!!
I love how children often open up and pour their hearts out at bedtime. It is precious.
