I found this little pic on Facebook last night and it really resonated with me.
How amazingly true is this statement?
I think of the great dreamers of the world and what they may not have accomplished had they listened to those or that one who said they could not or would never fulfill their dreams …
Queen Elizabeth
Abraham Lincoln
Susan B. Anthony
Winston Churchill
Clara Barton
Amelia Earhart
Harriet Tubman
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Steve Jobs
Condoleeza Rice …
really the list is ENDLESS.
But better yet … Moses was a perfect example of someone who was not persuaded by those that told him to do the opposite of what God commanded. However, because of his disobedience, he didn’t get to see the Promised Land … um … so his dream wasn’t fulfilled because of his own doing, not the doing of others. (not the greatest example, but you get it)
All these people were wise enough to do two things:
1. Surrounded themselves with people who believed in their dreams and supported them.
2. Ignored the voices of those saying they couldn’t do it.
The problem is simply this …
One negative voice SCREAMS louder than a thousand positive ones.
That one voice can discourage anyone from moving forward with their dream or goal.
So sad. But true.
So how do we overcome that?
Just follow the two steps above.
Surround yourself with supporters and ignore those who come against you.
And, then remember this:
If the dream is from God, He will help you accomplish it.
What better support it that?
So, let’s re-cap:
1. Pursue the dreams God’s given you.
2. Surround yourself with those who believe in you and your dream.
3. Ignore those who say you can’t do it.
That’s it.
So, easy on paper, right?
Now, if we could only get that in our spirits!
Dream big!
“Dreams come a size too big so we can grow into them” (not sure who said that, but so good). Don’t be afraid.
Dream!
