Here’s my minimal damage.
The big job of the day will be cleaning the pond. Beau doesn’t even know where to start. The sand actually seeped out of the bags into the pond. That’s why the water is this lovely brown color. We haven’t seen the fish, which is probably a good sign … they’re not floating on top. We will try to empty the pond out, clean it, and get the fish out. They may have to live in our ice chest for a little while.
This picture does not do justice to all the debris that is on the ground everywhere. There are leaves and branches all over. I’ll be cleaning that today.
The tree closest to the house will need to be cut down. At least it’s leaning away from the house. We are very blessed. Our neighbor had a tree break and fall on their house.
The worst damage for us would be water that leaked through our bedroom window upstairs and soaked our carpet. Even our wall is damaged as you can see. We got a lot of water up with the wet/dry vac, but it was still wet when we went to sleep. It will probably need to be replaced. We have remnants left and this area is actually behind our dresser, so I don’t think that anyone will notice.
I’m hoping that this will be my last post on Gustav. I’ve had enough and am ready to get back to my witty and extremely interesting and intelligent posts.

I’ve been thinking about ya’ll. I’m glad ya’ll are back home safe and sound. It’s too bad you have damage but at least it is not a lot. I guess it could’ve been worse. BTW, you’re a great reporter. The people from your church remind me a lot of our people. Laid back and fun and casual. It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun waiting on Gustav. Anyway, glad you’re back.
So glad you are home. I hate that you even had any damage at all. At least it was minimal. Praying the clean up goes smooth. Have fun picking up sticks in the yard. That was always the part I hated, lots of trees means lots of sticks.

Hope you have some fans that you can run for a couple of days in your bedroom. Need to keep the air circulating so that the area dries out.
