I’m sure most of you are aware of Oprah’s current new-age set of beliefs from the book “A New Earth.” If you’re not, watch this video explaining the beliefs and how she’s influencing thousands, if not more, of her viewers and non-viewers alike. She says, “God is a feeling,” and there’s also a clip from several years back where she denies Jesus as being the only way to God and heaven.
2 peter 2:1-3 – But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 3In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
Here’s the TRUTH, Oprah: It’s Jesus. He is the way, the TRUTH, and the Life. No one can come to the Father but through Him. Did you hear that – ONE WAY. We can’t pick and choose what is TRUTH or how we get to heaven. The Bible says in Matt. 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Whether Oprah chooses to believe it or not, the TRUTH is still the TRUTH.

I couldn’t agree with you MORE!! I have felt the exact same way ever since all this stuff came out. I also have stopped watching her shows. Don’t get me wrong, I never worshiped her or anything, but always thought she was very generous and compassionate. But – all that goes out the window when she is leading SO many people astray. She will have to stand before HIM one day and account for her sin!
We were just talking about this tonight at church, briefly. Oh man, she’s just nutso. And I so wish she would have just looked up that verse in the bible. God is not jealous of HER. God is jealous of our time with any other idols.
It’s so frustrating. Lucky for me, Gilmore Girls comes on at the same time.

Happily for me, I don’t watch TV because I’m so sick of everyone’s attempts to manipulate me through not-so-subtle messages embedded in TV shows and commercials, and being outright clubbed over the head by TV news shows. I like Lou Dobbs (he’s the exception) and Glenn Beck. Other than that, lemme outta there.
The book you hinted at in the title (“Don’t Drink the KoolAid”) is a rebuttal to Oprah’s silliness. However, be warned: the publishers of her book disclaim much of it in the link I added above. Apparently she’s plagiarized a great deal. That’s too bad, as ultimately she is correct in her perspective of the matter.
Wow. I had no idea about this. We don’t have cable. When we did, I watched her occasionally and usually liked her shows, but this is amazing. She’s out of control in the wrong direction and I’m sure she wouldn’t have an open enough mind if someone tried to point it out to her.
So many people don’t realize that the gate is SMALL and the road NARROW. Not many people will be getting in and she’s diverting them even further. So sad.

This is the hot topic right now huh? I’m with you though – I used to watch her and ignore all the new age hullabaloo but she’s just gone too far. And now for the first time, I feel sorry for Oprah.
When she says the part about God being jealous of her, I was just thinking, I wish she’d listened to the rest of that sermon – because I’m sure it was made clear that He’s jealous FOR her, not OF her.
I mean, the things that she’s ascribed to now, they don’t even make good common sense.
I need to remember to pray for her.
We were talking about her at worship team practice. It’s sad. So much of what her show is about is so completely wrong now. She doesn’t seem to have many light segments anymore. They all seem to be segments on how to fix your life and be happy. And her solutions just aren’t good. They are “white-washed walls.”

Did you hear the comment she made about being a Christian yesterday? That was the last straw for me. I promptly turned the TV today. Can’t listen anymore.
